CWU students and the community are invited to take part the challenging sport of wheelchair basketball on Thursday, Nov. 12. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet, greet and play with the Seattle Jr. Sonics Wheelchair Basketball Team at the CWU Recreation Center. The event is free and open to the public.
Starting at 3 p.m. participants will engage in games and tutorials to learn about wheelchair basketball and the sport's complexities. Then at 6 p.m. the CWU Men's and Women's basketball teams will participate in a game against the Seattle Jr. Sonics. Wheelchairs for the tutorials and games will be provided by Seattle Adaptive Sports (SAS).
"My guess is that the Seattle Jr. Sonics will destroy the CWU players, "said Eric Scott, Intramural Sports and Special Events coordinator. "The Seattle Wheelchair players have the advantage with their familiarity of the sport... it'll be a blowout!"
