2004-05 Student Creativity Awards
The College of Arts and Humanities is pleased to announce the call for entries for Student Creativity Awards in four areas of competition:

The Thomas Gause Award For Achievement In Musical Composition
2004-05 genre: Any musical genre
-
The Betty E. Evans Award For Achievement In Creative Writing
2004-05 genre: Playwriting or screenwriting
-
The George Stillman Award For Achievement In Art
2004-05 genre: Painting or watercolor
-
The Raymond Smith Award For Achievement In Scholarship
2004-05 genre: A single work of written scholarship (e. g. a scholarly essay) from any discipline in CAH

Eligibility:
Must be an undergraduate student enrolled in at least 12 credits during Spring quarter 2005, with a declared major or minor in one of the eight departments of the CAH.
Rules of Entry:
- Work must have been completed while enrolled at CWU.
- Students may submit entries in any or all of the three competitions, but are limited to one entry per competition.
- Entries must be submitted in triplicate and the student's name should not appear on the entry proper to enable anonymous judging.
- For each entry, an official coversheet should be completed and submitted. Coversheets are available in CAH department offices, the Dean's office, and on the CAH website: http://www.cwu.edu/~cah/awardforms.html.
- Awards are given for creation of original work rather than for performance.
- Entries are due in the CAH Dean's office by 5 p.m., April 15, 2005.
Submission Process:
- The Thomas Gause Award: Three formal copies of the original score along with a CD or cassette recording of a performance of the piece. The score should indicate the title of the piece.
- The Betty E. Evans Award For Achievement In Creative Writing: Three formal typewritten or computer printed manuscript copies of the original work of playwriting or screenwriting. The title of the piece should be indicated on the manuscript.
- The George Stillman Award For Achievement In Art: Entries submitted in photograph or slide form. Three copies of the photograph or slide with the "top" clearly indicated and the title of the piece written on the photograph or slide. The original painting or watercolor should be available for the judges to view if requested.
- The Raymond Smith Award For Achievement In Scholarship: Three formal typewritten or computer printed manuscript copies of the scholarly work.
