Annual Banquet

The College of Arts and Humanities will hold its annual banquet on Tuesday, 15 May from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Sue Lombard Dining Hall. This year's faculty and student award winners will be recognized in a ceremony following the dinner. Their work as well as faculty work from the past year will be on display during the banquet festivities. In addition to recognizing award winning faculty and students, an alum from each department will be honored with a College of Arts and Humanities Alumni Recognition Award. This is the first time that alumni are being honored at the annual college banquet. We are pleased to announce that the eight alums are:

Steve Gardner - Department of Art. MFA 1996. Steve is an active artist in Seattle. He studied art and biology at St. Olaf College, and then received his MFA in ceramic sculpture from CWU. His web site is http://www.gardnerart.com.

Kim Nowacki - Department of Communication. BA 2002. Kim has been the arts and entertainment reporter for the Yakima Herald Republic since 2003. Prior to this position she worked for the Argus Observer in Ontario, Oregon. She graduated from CWU with a degree in journalism and a minor in theatre.

Ronda Moore - Department of English. BA 1988. Ronda is an attorney in Nevada who has worked for the Secretary of State as Deputy Secretary for Elections. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Gonzaga University of Law, receiving her Juris Doctor Degree in 1992.

Alex Parle - Department of Foreign Languages. BA 1996. Alex works at the National Center for Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation in Seattle as a trade policy specialist. Alex graduated from CWU with degrees in psychology and Japanese.

Scott Beyer - Department of History. BA 1971. Scott is a practicing attorney in Yakima, Washington. He graduated from Willamette University receiving his Juris Doctor Degree in 1975.

Claire Vangelisti - Department of Music. BA 1988 and Master of Music 1989. Claire performs as a concert soloist and teaches at the Southwestern University. She received her Doctorate of Music Arts, Applied Voice from the University of Texas at Austin in 1997. Her web site is http://www.clairevangelisti.com.

John Haroldson - Department of Philosophy BA 1986. John was recently appointed by the Governor of Oregon as the District Attorney for Benton County. John graduated from the University of Oregon, receiving his Juris Doctor Degree in 1989. Preceding John's recent appointment is a 17 year career in criminal prosecution.

Dan Jenkins - Department of Theatre Arts. BA 2001 Dan works as a theatrical lighting and scenic designer in Los Angeles, California. His web site is http://www.danjenkinsdesign.com.
