14th and Walnut Intersection
The intersection at 14th and Walnut (at the Psychology Building and Nicholson Pavilion) should be closed at least during class times and blocked with physical barriers. There are too many pedestrians and drivers alike that use this intersection and it's become too dangerous with Central's increasing population. I've witnessed many drivers forcing pedestrians to run across this intersection by pulling into it and not stopping. This is not only illegal and rude, but incredibly unsafe in these winter conditions. There are other routes for drivers to get off-campus from the parking lots in this area.

Forwarded to - Steve Rittereiser; Assistant VP for Business Auxiliaries & Public Safety
Response - The intersection, actually Nicholson Blvd. and Walnut is in the jurisdiction of the City of Ellensburg. The problem has been referred to them on several occasions and it will be referred to them again. As always, the CWU Department of Public Safety and Police Services reminds drivers to use caution and to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks. Pedestrians should remain alert to drivers inattentive to pedestrians.

North Village Cafe; Boxes Blocking Doors
I live in Green and there is one area of concern that I have. The employees at NVC are constantly putting empty boxes, garbage, and bread racks in front of the back door. This not only blocks the exit, but it also blocks the stairs and to me this is not acceptable. It is a fire hazard. And needs to be addressed immediately. If someone could please address this issue and not let them put anything by the back door both inside and outside the door that would be great thank you.

Forwarded to - Dan Layman; Interim Director of Dining Services
Response - Thank you for the inquiry. I have spoken to both the Manager and Supervisor up at the North Village Cafe. I indicated to them that the boxes and bags need to be kept out of the stairwell and away from the doors. I will check on it and have asked the management team to also look at the situation to make sure it does not continue. If the problem comes back, please feel free to contact me at 963 1332.

Degree Issues
I have just finished my education througth Central. I am having nothing by problems with getting my degree. There was a miscommunication between the Registar's office and the Education Department about my last grade for graduation. Now, because of the University's mistake they are saying that I cannot get my degree until the end of the next quarter. I need to start working and want nothing more than to get into the classroom and teach as this college has prepared me to do. Everyone that I have talked to that has graduated from Central has had problems getting their degrees. This is not right!!!!!!!! I did everything I could do to finish, and now because of the University's mistake I am not going to be able to start working when I need to.

Response - This matter has been successfully taken care of.

Flooding
When is CWU going to something about the lake at the southwest corner of the G15 parking lot near Chestnut? This is a major foot traffic corridor from major parking lots. When it rains or when snow melts, the sidewalk and street area flood. On January 3rd, many students faculty and staff found themselves having to walk down the street (9th) dodging cars, because they couldn't walk on or near the sidewalk. There is a storm drain not more than 4 feet away (in the parking lot) but the curb between the sidewalk and the parking lot keeps the water from draining. This really needs to be addressed, and it seems that it could be resolved rather easily ... by cutting a channel through the curb. Sooner or later someone is going to get hurt because of this, and that won't be good.

Forwarded to - Robert Tosch; Director, Maintenance and Operations
Response - FMD will discuss snow removal on 9th street with the city and investigate the removal of the curb in the near future. Thank you for your input on this situation.

Quck Facts Page?
Looking at colleges on web for son. Most colleges have a "quick facts" page (refer to any number for examples). If you have one, with student enrollment, number of faculty, etc.etc I cannot easily find it. Maybe Central should have one too??
Thx.

Forwarded to - Jesse Days, CWU Web Developer
Response - The page you're looking for is located at: http://www.cwu.edu/~ir/Facts.html on the Institutional Research Web site. Thank you for your feedback, we will implement a "Quick Facts" link on our A-Z index.

Website Update
Please make your website more user friendly. How can one find out if the office will be closed Tuesday because of the funeral of President Ford? It is very hard to find out information.

Forwarded to - Jesse Days, CWU Web Developer
Response - Information about unexpected closures would be on our emergency closures page at: http://www.cwu.edu/closures.html
When a closure is pending we implement a 'ticker tape' type announcement on the CWU home page.
