Business Services and Contracts : Suggestions and Responses |
November 200811.08.01 Perhaps you could offer a roster of former instructors, their disposition and current contact information...if any. I'm a 1951 alumnus. I'm mainly interested in: Wayne Hertz, Robert Funderburk and Sarah Spurgeon. Forwarded to - Jim Armstrong, Director of Alumni Relations Response - I'm sorry to say there is no roster of such faculty per se, although most of the university's departments have information about former members and are happy to respond to inquiries.
Many former faculty are also in the Alumni database and we look them up whenever we get requests. I'm sorry to say that the three you mentioned specifically are deceased: Sarah Spurgeon died in 1985, Robert Funderburk in 1994 and Wayne Hertz in 1996.
If there are others I can help you with, please don't hesitate to call or email. 11.08.02 There is still concern about all university student teaching supervisors being on the same page. Student teaching for fall students should begin on the 25th of September (regardless of individual district start dates) this way there would be no confusion on when students are allowed to be finished. At this point there are some students who began at the end of August and are completing their 7 weeks of teaching (well over the required 55 days when adding in observation days). These students have other jobs that could be worked until they are given their certificates at the completion of the quarter. Plus some students shouldn't have to commute any extra days if they are already struggling to afford tuition and gas and car maintenance! Yet some supervisors are saying the students have to still go to the school everyday until the end of the quarter. Forwarded to - C. Rexton Lynn, Director of Field Experiences & Interim Associate Dean, College of Education and Professional Studies Response -I have explained the rules regarding placements and the length of time required of student teachers. If a particular student teacher has an issue with a supervisor or the required length of time, s/he should contact me directly. View prior explanation and response at Archived Responses. Email: C. Rexton LynnPhone: (509) 963-1962 11.08.03 I would like to comment on the Wednesday announcement from your security office about the robbery near campus. Once the phone call came, I could tell that it was a computer generated voice. I had to listen to it twice and I still couldn't understand the names of the streets. But the most important feedback that I would like to give is at the very beginning, it was hard to tell who the message was coming from. I still can't recall what they were trying to say, even listening twice. I think it was an abbreviation. I think that very first part of the announcement should state very clearly, "This is an announcement from Central Washington University. Our "whatever" department has an announcement." I realize that was your first test of the system with a real event, but my husband actually thought it was in our neighborhood and we don't live in Ellensburg, so it was rather confusing. Now the second announcement that came was a real person speaking, it was clear and concise and I understood every bit of it.Thanks for listening. I do fully appreciate the new system you are providing, but I hope you don't mind some feedback from a parent. Forwarded to - Mike Luvera, Emergency Management Coordinator - Captain, Public Safety and Police Services. Response -This is probably the most common suggestion we've heard. Glad to hear my voice was clear and concise on the 2nd message! 11.08.04 I have 2 middle names and would greatly appreciate you looking into putting a second middle initial box/blank on your admission forms so that my personal information can be accurately represented. Forwarded to - Kathy Gaer-Carlton, Acting Director of Admissions Response - There should be enough space for the student to enter both middle names in the space allotted. Our on-line application is updated once a year and that time has passed. Therefore we will not be making any updates until next spring/summer. I will keep your email with the student’s suggestion for consideration for next years updates. Sincerely,
