Grading Criteria

At the end of the term, your Web site will serve as a portfolio of your work. Your grade will be primarily based on that work.  It must include:

I.  Weekly assignments (Each assignment is worth 5 points for a total of 45 points.)

  • Home page, personal pages

  • Must include your resume. Other pages are at your discretion to demonstrate mastery of skills or learning outcomes, as well as just for fun.
  • The color scheme assignments are your chance to demonstrate what you are capable of doing for future employers. Each assignment should include:
    1. The demonstration site
    2. A rationale of how and why you designed the site the way you did. This should be about two screens worth detailing your research, goals for the site, methods and rationale.
  • The analysis assignments show how well you are reading and integrating your reading assignments into your work. 
II. Your own site assessment (see description under finals week)
5 points.

III. How well you demonstrate the following on your Web: 5 points.

  • Mastery of the learning outcomes
  • Demonstration of Web design skills
  • Sophistication of the presentation and content of the site

  • Completion of each assignment
IV. Team project. 25 points
Each team will be assigned a segment of the Bridges Project Web site's "about" section.  You will be asked to build the site, using the principles discussed in class and in your texts. You must provide:
  1. Actual Web pages.
  2. A written plan detailing analysis of audience, customer, message.
  3. A written report of a usability test on the pages.
  4. A report of your research and activities.
  5. A class presentation of the site.
  6. A performance review of your team and how it functioned.
V. Your comments in the class weblog.  You will be evaluated for your frequency and thoughtfulness. 15 points.

 VI. Attendance and class discussion. 5 points.
