Advisory Committee

The purpose of the advisory committee for the Center for the Teacher/Scholar is to advise the Center Director with respect to the development and maintenance of quality Center services. The committee will help assure that Center services are consistent with the needs of the faculty and University.

I. Purpose

The advisory committee for the Center for the Teacher/Scholar shall:

  1. Participate in indentifying the needs of the teacher/scholar
  2. Participate in identifying and prioritizing Center services
  3. Aid and guide the Center in those activities which will provide direction for delivering Center services
  4. Help in developing and maintaining (a) relevant program(s)
  5. Offer recommendations for the improvement of the services offered
  6. Integrate the work of the Center with related campus programs
  7. Assist the Center in obtaining internal and external support
  8. Investigate programs at other universities with the idea of encouraging the use of those practices which may be applicable to CWU
  9. Assist in the revision, as warranted, of the objectives of the Center
  10. Serve as an avenue of communication between the Center and faculty
  11. Conduct an annual assessment of the Center progress and submit a summary of the assessment to the Provost
  12. Assist in collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data
  13. Evaluate biannually Teacher/Scholar Center Director

Membership

Membership of the advisory committee will include the Director of the Teacher/Scholar Center, the Associate Vice President for Undergraduate Studies (ex-officio), two representatives from each college, one dean (ex-officio), and one graduate assistant.

  1. Qualification for Membership
    Center advisory committee membership should consist of people from the university who possess knowledge and experience in the program area for which they will serve.
  2. Method of Designation
    Members of the Center advisory committee should be nominated and selected through established Faculty Senate procedures.
  3. Term of Membership
    1. A regular term of office will be established. Membership will be staggered to allow for new members while retaining some experienced representatives to maintain continuity.
    2. It is recommenced that membership on the committee be limited to three years. Persons will be appointed with staggering terms to provide committee continuity.
    3. Vacancies should be filled with persons with similar backgrounds by the Provost for the remainder of the unexpired term.
