In the mid-1980's CWU purchased new VAX computers and
administrative software from Information Associates. It
soon became apparent that if the Auxiliary Services
Departments were to enter the Information Age they would
need computer and programming support for their programs.
In 1985 Wendell Hill founded the Computer Apprentice
Program to provide that support and to contribute to the
teaching mission of the University. From that beginning
of a couple of students the program has grown the present
team of ten students serving over a hundred workstations
in eight departments across the University. Here we honor
the past and present apprentices:
