Volunteer Activity Information

There are a variety of Volunteer Opportunities available to AUAP students throughout the cycle. Students may choose from such things as helping in a preschool, reading books to elementary school children or participating in community projects. If you would like to volunteer, check the Volunteer Board next to Room 134 or on the web for descriptions and dates of activities. If there is an activity that conflicts with your AUAP classes, you may be excused for up to two class hours per term by filling an AUAP Volunteer Release Form available from the Curriculum Coordinator. All sign ups are on the Volunteer Board.

I thought that volunteering would be a great experience for me. It’s a good opportunity to combine it with learning English and American culture. I also thought I can’t do volunteer like this in Japan, so I wanted to do it in America.

Several AUAP students teaching gradeschool children to write kanji.

My favorite volunteer activity and memory is going to the pre-school. I played with children. I've been there three times and I have enjoyed it every time!!!

I would recommend to other students to volunteer, especially at the preschool. It was so fun!! I also had a good time with Americans who were studying Japanese. I taught them kanji. I felt happy because we could study English and American culture while they studied Japanese!!!
