Weather permitting, we go up to the observatory on the roof of Lind Hall and do some observing and research.
The school owns a 12-inch Cassegrain reflecting telescope
on a motorized equatorial mount in an observatory that we use to do
our observing. We also own an 8-inch Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain, an 8-inch Newtonian reflecting telescope on a Dobsonian mount,
a 5-inch Celestron Nexstar telescope, and a 4-inch Astroscan
that we can take to star parties and dark sky sites. We have a CCD
camera that can be used with the telescopes for astrophotography. We also have a solar filter for the 8- inch Celestron for viewing the sun. For
all of the telescopes, we have a double polarized moon filter for easier viewing of the moon, four planetary filters, a light pollution filter, and a nebula filter.
