Sarah Spurgeon Gallery, 6-7 pm: Special Reunion Reception for Alumni, Faculty, and Friends

The inaugural CWU art alumni exhibition will include work by fifty-five art alumni who graduated between 1954 and 1979. Paintings, sculpture, photographs, ceramics, jewelry, and fiber arts are only some of the types of artwork you can see in the exhibit. The exhibition will be on view simultaneously at two venues — the CWU Sarah Spurgeon Gallery and Gallery One Visual Arts Center in downtown Ellensburg. Gallery One is located at 408 N. Pearl Street.
Admission is free.
Hours are:
Tuesday—Saturday 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

A free, public opening reception will take place at both venues on Friday, April 6 from 5 to 9 pm. A shuttle bus will provide transportation between the two venues. In addition, there will be a special reunion reception for alumni, faculty, and friends from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Sarah Spurgeon Gallery.

This exhibition is made possible, in part, by the CWU Foundation Ann & Joseph Carrico Endowment.

Juried Student Art Exhibition

Lecture by Fionn Meade:
Curator, writer, and juror for the CWU Juried Student Art Exhibition, 2007

Fionn Meade is an Assistant Curator at the Henry Art Gallery in Seattle. He received his MFA from Columbia University and has worked on multidisciplinary projects with northwest art organizations and institutions such as Artist's Trust, On the Boards, Punch Gallery and more. Besides being a curator Fionn is also a writer whose criticism has recently appeared or is forthcoming in Bomb Magazine, The Fillip Review, and The Stranger, among other publications.

Student Art Council: Juried Student Art Exhibition May 14-18 2007
Reception, Friday, May 18, 6-8 pm; Awards ceremony, 7 pm

Annual juried exhibition sponsored by the Student Art Council that is a showcase for the best student artwork created over the course of the academic year. This year's guest juror is Fionn Meade, Assistant Curator for Public Programs at the Henry Art Gallery, Seattle. At the awards ceremony, select students receive prizes donated by community businesses and arts organizations for excellence in their artwork.

Graduate Thesis Exhibition: Matthew Winkelmann, May 23 - June 9
Reception, Friday, June 1, 5-7 pm, (Ellensburg First Friday Art Walk)

Annual exhibition that represents the culmination of study for the master of fine arts degree. Matthew Winkelmann's mad scientist alter-ego, "Doctor Matthew von Winkelmann," will exhibit tongue-in-cheek artwork and electronic gadgetry inspired by Dada artists from the turn of the 20 th century and old science fiction movies.
