Michael ChinnProfessor of Art Michael Chinn grew up in Dallas, Texas then migrated to California after finishing high school where he completed a Bachelor of Arts degree at San Jose State University (1974) and a Master of Fine Arts degree at California State University at Long Beach (1980). He is an artist, craftsman, and designer who utilizes wood and metal to create small pseudo-functional vessels and studio furniture. Chinn's résumé contains an extensive list of exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad, numerous awards, and a long list of critical mentions and reviews In 1981 he became a faculty member at Iowa State University where he headed the wood design program for 14 years and served as Assistant Chair and Assistant Dean. He joined the faculty at Central Washington University in 1995 as Chair of the Department of Art and served in that capacity until August 2004 when he became the Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Humanities.
