Introduction

(The class will be decorated in a variety of holiday decorations from all different cultures)
Welcome! Today is the first day of our cultural celebration from around the world. This month we are going to be learning about different major cultural holidays and bringing them to life in our class. We will be looking at holidays that we are used to, and also some holidays that we are not accustomed to. These will include Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and much more. Like many of you, I enjoy celebrating many of the different holidays and just as much as I love learning about them too. There are so many different and wonderful holidays that it is hard to pick which one I like more.  This is why I have chosen to combine two of my favorite holidays together to make one SUPER celebration! Your job is to research two of your favorite holidays and come up with one new holiday!

Task

You will work individually on this assignment. You are going to be researching different major cultural holidays and present on a holiday that you do not celebrate. Then you are to pick two of your favorite holidays and combine them together. You will be making poster of your new holiday to the class. The presentation should be at least 5 to 10 mintues long. The information presented must be accurate, but feel free to add new ideas to YOUR holiday. Remember to be creative and have FUN!

Research: You can narrow your topic by religious holidays or what holidays a country celebrates:

The Process

As you can tell, there are many different countries and it may be overwhelming. Start by doing a little reasearch on the countries that interest you to help narrow your country of choice. Or you can choose a religion to help narrow down the topic of holidays.

Resources

Below is a list of resources that might help in your research.
