Research Request Form

Please fill in each field of the form below and click "Submit Request" at the bottom of the page to place a research request with the Central Regional Branch. Please observe the following guidelines while placing a request:

The Central Regional Branch only collects public records that originate within the geographical region described by Benton, Chelan, Douglas, Franklin, Grant, Kittitas, Klickitat, Okanogan, and Yakima counties. To make a research inquiry with the State Archives relative to other regions of the state, or relative to the records of State Government, go here.
If possible, please specify the records you are interested in as described in one of our guides.
Researchers should read the Archives' Research Policies before placing a request. There is no charge to place a research request with the Archives. Additionally, there is no charge for simple retrieval of documents. If a particular request appears to warrant research fees, Archives staff will notify the researcher before proceeding. There is no fee for individuals to conduct research in person at the archives.
Due to increased volume, our initial response to an inquiry may occur up to 5 business days after our receipt of the request. Priority will be given to inquiries that are related to our collection area (central Washington State) or to specific records in our holdings. Our goal is to provide the most prompt service possible when responding to research requests.

IMPORTANT:
It is very important that you supply information that will allow us to contact you with a response. Users are requested at least to provide an email address in this form, since the Archives can not determine your e-mail address unless you supply it in the appropriate field. Additional information is requested as a back-up. All address and telephone information will be used only for the purpose of responding to the research inquiries of those who supply the information, and will otherwise be kept confidential. However, we can not guarantee the security of information while it is being transmitted via this on-line form. Researchers should note that they may also submit research requests via postal mail, telephone, or in person. See our home page for contact information.
