CULTURE THROUGH MEDIA Who are we? Namakemono Anime Club of Central Washington University in Ellensburg, WA. Our motto is "Culture Through Media" and we hold regular showings of Japanese Anime in their original Japanese with English subtitles.
Like all other forms of art, anime is a reflection of life and the culture in which it was created, providing a window of exposure into the values, customs and entertainment preferences of another nation. Our goals are to heighten cultural awareness through the simple act of showcasing different anime in an environment where like-minded individuals may come to enjoy, discuss, and socialize.
Our club is open to all and there are no fees of any kind, just drop by!
Base of operations: CWU, Black 150 on Tuesdays, 6:00pm-10:00pm. Showtime at 7pm.

2/5/09 Electing new Officers results in Experimentation
In other words, busy trying to make sense of the very big pile of files I've been handed and how they work. This message itself is an experiment itself to see if I've figured out how to correctly post news. It might take me a bit to get used to how everything's set up. I found the important bit, the "Now Showing" section. It's (finally) up to date. Everything else will start to get updated once I get my hands on information to update the sections with.
1/5/09 First Meeting of Winter Quarter
Welcome to another quarter. Our first meeting will be Tuesday, January 6th. The place will be Black Hall 150. Showtime starts at 7pm, but feel free to come by 6-7 to hang out/study/whatever you feel like. We'll be having a sampler night in order to vote on what to watch this quarter. We'll also be having elections next meeting, so if you have any interest in any sort of positions, be sure to come by to learn what's available!
10/13/08 Macross Frontier and Genshiken
Thanks to all who came out to our first meeting. We will be watching the first episodes of Macross Frontier and Genshiken tomorrow, Oct. 14. We will watch these shows for the quarter except for the Halloween party, Oct. 28th. Macross Frontier is the latest of the Macross saga (the first series should be familiar to those who watched Robotech many moons ago), and is riddled with high budget mecha blasting action. Genshiken is a slice of life comedy about, gasp, a college anime club. As stated, our annual Halloween party falls on the 28th of October. Festivities will begin at 6pm and run until 10. There shall be a costume contest (cosplay encouraged, but other costumes welcome), a cooking contest (bring something edible if you like), and an anime trivia contest! Hopefully we'll have a sneak peak of some of the prizes next week... Of course, there shall also be some anime! We'll decide on the specific shows, but expect some Soul Eater, and possibly some festive Higurashi that will be sure to warm the heart of people afraid of pretty much anything that has eyes or makes noise. 10/7/08 First Meeting of the Year!
Hello and welcome to another year of CWU and the 8th year of our clubs existence. Due to scheduling conflicts, our first meeting of the year will be this Tuesday, October 7th. We shall be showing Studio Ghibli's Legend of Earthsea. We will also decide what to show for the remainder of the quarter. Showtime will begin around 7pm. As always, we have the room from 6pm-10pm so feel free to drop by earlier to hang out. If you have any interest in becoming an officer of the club, we have a number of positions available. Details will be forthcoming.
