Department of Philosophy & Religious Studies | The William O. Douglas Honors College

Welcome to my web page! I have a passion for philosophy, and I try to instill that same passion in my students. My teaching and research are primarily in Kant, ethics and applied ethics, and nineteenth-century philosophy, but I also work in social & political philosophy, the philosophy of law, and the philosophy of art.

I received my Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Chicago in 2001, and my B.A. in philosophy and English (double major) from Albion College in 1994. If you attend either place based on my endorsement, I get a free set of steak knives.
