History of Alpha Kappa Psi

Alpha Kappa Psi began at New York University by four men (Bergen, Jefferson, Lane, Leach), later known as the Brooklyn Four. The formal Application was made to the state of New York on March 20, 1905 for a charter of incorporation for Alpha Kappa Psi to be come the nation's first professional business fraternity. The application was written by Frederic R. Leach and was signed by the 10 founding fathers. The Application was approved and Alpha Kappa Psi became the nation's oldest business fraternity on May 20, 1905. Women were admitted into the fraternity in August of 1976.

Chapter History

The Kappa Xi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi is located at Central Washington University. Kappa Xi was founded on May 12, 1979. It belongs to one of fourteen AKPsi regions, the Northwest Region. The active chapter size is 33 members.
