Physical Fitness Standards

Physical fitness is a key component in the development of an Air Force officer and should never be taken lightly. The Physical Fitness Test (PFT) consists of sit-ups, push-ups, a 1.5-mile run, and your abdominal measurement. It comprises the mandatory physical fitness standards required by AFROTC to:

  1. activate or retain an AFROTC scholarship and
  2. meet the POC Selection Program (PSP) Board, attend Field Training (FT), successfully complete FT and remain in good standing as a Professional Officer Course (POC) cadet through commissioning.

PFT Scoring System

Sit-ups: 10% of score
Push-ups: 10% of score
1.5-Mile Run: 50% of score
Abdominal Measurement: 30% of score
  • There are five-minute rest periods between events. The sit-ups and push-ups each have a 1-minute time limit.
  • You must score at least 75% to pass the PFT.
