Africana and Black Studies

The Africana and Black Studies (ABS) Program at CWU assumes a matrix model, bringing together scholars from an array of disciplines that are concerned with the Africa and the Black Diaspora. The purpose of the Africana and Black Studies Program at Central is to introduce students to the history, culture and society, and political and economic conditions of Black people in Africa, the Americas, and elsewhere in the world; and to explore new approaches, in perspectives, analyses and interdisciplinary techniques, appropriate to the study of the Black experience in the United States and the Diaspora.
