| Title Bar |
Displays the navigational information for the current panel, including the names of the window, the menu, and the panel group. |
| Control Menu Icon |
Provides access to commands that control the size and placement of the window. |
| Menu Bar |
Provides access to panels and to common navigational and data entry commands. |
| Toolbar |
Contains toolbar buttons that perform certain common navigational and data entry commands. The toolbar buttons are shortcuts for correcpsonding menu commands. |
| Window Sizing Buttons |
Reduces the window to an icon, enlarges it to fill the entire screen, or exits the applications. These buttons are called the Minimize, Maximize/Restore and Close buttons respectively. |
| Panel Tabs |
The panel tab displays the name of the panel. If the panel is part of a panel group, clicking on a panel tab will take you directly to that panel within the group. |
| Scroll Bars |
In PeopleSoft, if a record may need multiple rows of information, a scroll bar appears to allow you to access or insert the additional rows. For example, because an employee may have more than one emergency contact, there is a scroll bar to provide access to multiple contacts. |
| Status Bar |
The right side shows the panel name and which action type you selected when you accessed the current panel. |

| Although options in the menu bars vary with the application or window you're in, there are six menu items common to every window. |
| File |
Lists actions that save or process data. |
| Edit |
Lists data entry options youll use as you move through panels and update the database. |
| View |
Lists navigational options youll use as you move through panels and update the database. |
| Go |
Accesses the different applications and PeopleSoft windows you are authorized to use. |
| Favorites |
Lists user-defined panel group destinations that have been "bookmarked" for future access. |
| Help |
Provides access to online help. |
| In addition to these common menus, application windows include multiple functional menus that provide access to panels. Some of the more common additional menus include: |
| Process |
Lists actions that process data. |
| Report |
Provides access to predefined reports available within PeopleSoft. |
| Use |
Lists panel or panel groups available to enter or process data. |
| Inquire |
Allows you to view data through predefined methods of data inquiry, usually summaries. |

| The following is a list of the standard toolbar buttons: |

Save |
Sends the information youve entered on the panel to the database. Youll generally save when you come to the end of a panel group; the Save command always updates the data for all panels in a group. If there are any required fields on the panel that you havent completed, the system will issue a warning or an error message. |

Run |
Runs a process, first prompting you to specify when and where you want it run. |
 |
Run with Defaults |
Runs a process using the defaults set up in your process scheduler. |
 |
Cancel |
Clears the panel and any data that you may have entered or changed without saving. When you press Cancel, the system doesnt warn you to save changes. Use Cancel if you entered data incorrectly and want to start over. |

Edit Run Control |
Allows you to edit the existing run control parameters. |

Next In List |
Displays the data for the next data row in your search list box. This push button appears gray if you didnt select the data row from a list box, if there was only one row in the list, or if the data displayed is the last row on the list. |

Previous In List |
Displays the data for the previous data row in your search list box. This push button appears gray if you didnt select the data row from a list box, if there was only one row in the list, or if the data displayed is the last row on the list. |

List |
Displays the list box generated by the search record for this panel, and allows you to select another row to update. If you accessed a row directly without going through a list box, this push button appears gray. |

Next Panel In Group |
Brings up the next panel in the current panel group. If you have come to the end of the panel group, it brings up the first panel again. |

Previous Panel In Group |
Brings up the previous panel in the current panel group. If youre at the first panel of a group, it brings up the last panel. |

Next Panel |
Brings up the next panel in the menu. If youre in a panel group and have not reached the end, the command brings up the next panel in the group; if youre in the last or only panel in a group, it invokes the first panel of the next group. From the last panel in a menu, the Next Panel button summons the first panel. |

Previous Panel |
Brings up the previous panel in the menu. If there is an earlier panel in the current group, it will be invoked; otherwise, the system will display the last panel in the previous panel group. From the first panel in a menu, the Previous Panel button summons the last panel. |

Insert Row |
Inserts a new row in a scrollable field. |

Delete Row |
Deletes the current row of data; equivalent to pressing
F8
.

Next Step |
Takes you to the next Step in the Business Process Activity. |

Previous Step |
Returns you to the previous Step in the Business Process Activity. |

Add |
Inserts a new row of information to the database with a new primary key. |

Update/Display |
Accesses existing rows of data on the database. If data is effective-dated, displays only current and future rows. |

Update/Display All |
Accesses existing rows of data on the database and displays all effective-date rows. Allows you to update only current and future rows. |
 |
Correction |
Accesses existing rows of data on the database and displays all effective-date rows. Allows you to update all rows, including history rows. |

Global Search |
Accesses the Global Search panel which compares key search criteria you provide against the corresponding data contained in the database. |
