Brief Alcohol Screening & Intervention for College Students
B.A.S.I.C.S is a single-session alcohol and/or marijuana screening and discussion offered free to all Central Washington University students who want to explore their substance use.
Some students attend B.A.S.I.C.S to fulfill a requirement as a result of an alcohol or other drug related offense, while others participate because they would like to learn moderation strategies to reduce negative consequences. Students who are thinking about whether they are better off moderating or abstaining are also welcome to self-refer.
This program is designed to assist students in examining their own drinking behavior in a judgment-free environment. The goals are selected by the student and aimed at reducing higher-risk behaviors and harmful consequences of substance use.
