The CWU Wake Sports Club won the 2013 Collegiate Wakeboarding National Championships this past weekend [May 25-27] in Shreveport, Louisiana.
Central rolled into National Championships with momentum from their West Regional Championship in the fall. They were ranked number one in the nation coming into the event.
The Wildcats got off to a quick start on the first day. Eddie Roberts (Men’s C), Thomas Olson (Men’s B) and Sean Harris (Men’s D) all won their heats to advance to semi-finals and finals. Both women competitors, Chelsea Worland (Women’s A) and Amanda Parker (Women’s B) also qualified for semi-finals.
On day two Central picked up where they left off. Kyler Green (Men’s A) won his quarterfinal while Kolby Blew (Men’s A) advanced to semi-finals. Central swept both championships in Men’s C and D with Roberts and Harris winning their respective classes. Parker took second in Women’s B.
The third and final day cemented the Wildcats National Championship. In Men’s A Green won the class while Blew took third. Men’s B was won by Olson while Worland placed fourth in semi-final heat of Women A. Pat Mahoney rode Wakeskate for the Wildcats and placed third in the final round.
Central put together a complete performance in all seven classes to win their first national title.
The championships will be covered in detail on Alliance Wakeboard Magazine’s website www.alliancewake.com and will be broadcasted on FOX Sports later this summer.
