About the Office of Undergraduate Research

Engaging in undergraduate research, scholarship, or creative activities involves critically evaluating existing knowledge, planning activities that help you to discover new knowledge, executing those activities, interpreting the importance or impact of your work, and communicating the results to others.

All these skills enhance professional and academic credentials, and are useful for everyone to have.

The Office of Undergraduate Research has two primary functions:

  1. Provide funds for undergraduate research, scholarship, and creative activities via Undergraduate Research Fellowships and promote travel to professional conferences via Undergraduate Travel Fellowships.
    • Fellowship application deadlines occur three times during the academic year.  Deadline information can be found at "Applying for Funding" information page. **PLEASE USE THE NEW APPLICATION PACKETS FOR 2013**
  2. Support the annual Symposium on University Research and Creative Expression (SOURCE) that showcases research, scholarship, and creative endeavors of Central students.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact Dr. Kara Gabriel, Director of the Office of Undergraduate Research, at gabrielk@cwu.edu or call (509) 963-2387
