Mr. Erickson has more than 35 years of experience as a manager, attorney and senior level executive leading technology, consumer product and retail enterprises in the global marketplace.
He has been instrumental in building several businesses serving as a founder, senior executive, board member, angel investor and advisor. He is the Founder, Chairman and CEO of Visualant, Inc. a photon imaging and authentication company. Erickson was a Co-founder, Chairman and CEO of Blue Frog Mobile, Inc., a mobile media and entertainment company. Mr. Erickson previously served as Chairman and CEO of eCharge Corporation an Internet based transaction processing company. He was a co-founder and Chairman and CEO GlobalTel Resources, a telecommunications networking company.
Prior to that, Mr. Erickson served as Chairman, Interim President and CEO, Vice Chairman and Director of Egghead Software, Inc.; a company in which he was an original investor. Mr. Erickson also co-founded Microrim, Inc., a developer of the relational database, RBase. He has been an angel investor in and a board member of a number of public and private companies. Early in his career he worked in public policy at the White House, for the Rockefeller Commission on Critical Choices in New York City and at the Office of Economic Opportunity in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Erickson was raised in Ellensburg, Washington and graduated from Ellensburg High School. His pioneer family homesteaded in the Kittitas Valley in 1876. His cousin, Roger Sparks, continues to farm the family's homestead acreage on the west side of the valley. His mother, Ayleen Frederick Erickson, was born on the family homestead and attended Central Washington University (then Normal School) in 1934 and 1935. His later father, Ed Erickson was Superintendent of the Ellensburg School District from 1952 to 1958. Thereafter he was Director of Planning and Development at Central Washington University, then a Professor and Chairman of the Department of Education until 1966 when he was appointed the Founding President of the Seattle Community College system.
Mr. Erickson has a BA from Central Washington University, a MA from the University of Wyoming and a JD from the University of California, Davis and is licensed to practice law in the State of Washington. He is an age group triathlete with Ironman and Half Ironman finishes. He, writes poetry, collects literature from the 1920's and races vintage sports cars on west coast road courses.
Mr. Erickson has two daughters, Julia, of Pittsburgh, PA, and Elizabeth, of Seattle, WA. Mr. Erickson lives on Bainbridge Island, WA with his wife, Dia Armenta.
