
Lindsey Sires is a senior at Central Washington University with a major in public relations, with minors in French and nonprofit organization administration. Sires, who began her academic career at CWU in the fall of 2009, is a graduate of Eisenhower High School in Yakima.
During her freshman year she was involved with the Residence Hall Leadership Council for Davies Hall while also working for KCWU TV.
During her sophomore year, Sires was elected vice president of professional development for the CWU chapter the Public Relations Student Society of America, began working with student radio KCWU, 88.1 FM The 'Burg, and served as an operator in the university’s distance education program. In addition, she had an on-air radio internship with KDBL, 92.9 FM The Bull in Yakima, during the summer of 2011.
Most recently, she joined the CWU communication studies honors society Lambda Pi Eta and was elected to serve as its treasurer for the 2012-13 academic year. She was appointed by the Associated Student of CWU Board of Directors to serve as its representative to the university’s Student Media Board. She was also appointed by the Communication Department to the College of Arts and Humanities (CAH) Dean’s Council of Student Leaders. In addition, she assisted with publicity for the Kittitas County League of Women Voters.
She also interned with CWU Public Affairs while working for Campus Life and KXLE Radio, 1240 AM, in Ellensburg. She was nominated by the Communication Department for Outstanding Student for CAH and received an award from the CWU Communication Department for Academic Excellence. She also received the first Volunteer of the Quarter award from KCWU Radio and US Bank.
Sires also works as a digital media specialist for Townsquare Interactive in Yakima. She will continue her education during a public relations internship in France after graduating next spring.
