A One Woman Show Written and Performed by Elise Forier-Edie
Trisha Lee, a Christian widow living in a small Texas town, finds herself grappling with fear, confusion and ostracism when her teenage daughter announces she is "gender queer" and starting a chapter of the Gay and Straight Alliance (GSA) at the local high school. When the school principal rejects the GSA's application for inclusion as a school club, Trisha must choose sides in her rapidly dividing town. Will she stand with her daughter, or with the status quo? "The Pink Unicorn" traces an ordinary woman's extraordinary journey from ignorance to advocacy, in a fight being staged every day in small towns and high schools across America.
The show was created with support of the Blue Mountain Center, Kent Stephens' Stage Force in Kittery ME, a CAH Creativity Grant and DogTown Theatre.
