Theatre Education NTT, 2017-18

The Central Washington University Department of Theatre Arts invites applications for a non-tenure track Theatre Generalist who will assist in the implementation of the department’s Theatre Education BFA program, beginning in fall 2017. This is a one-year contract with a potential option to renew. We seek a broadly trained theatre generalist with a serious commitment to teacher preparation, as well as a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Duties: Teaching in dramatic literature, theatre history, theatre education, and performance areas with additional assignments in recruiting, summer drama camp development, and assisting the department liaison with the School of Education. Summer teaching assignments in conjunction with a summer drama camp program, associated with the Theatre Education program clinical experiences, is anticipated.

Minimum Qualifications

• MA degree in Theatre or related field
• Experience and/or training in education or theatre education

Preferred Qualifications

• PhD or MFA in Theatre or related field
• Experience with and certification in K12 education
• Experience working with diverse populations
• Strong record of high-quality and innovative teaching theatre and drama at the elementary, secondary, and/or college level
• Experience in Theatre for Young Audiences

Dance Instructor Choreographer NTT (PT) 2017-18

Central Washington University seeks a non-tenure track- DANCE INSTRUCTOR / CHOREOGRAPHER to support a thriving BFA program and production season. The candidate should possess strong pedagogical skills with experience teaching a variety of musical theatre dance styles (from classic Broadway to contemporary).  We seek a broadly trained theatre practitioner with a serious commitment to student success as well as a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Required Qualifications:

MA in Theatre/Dance; or BA/BFA degree in Dance or related field and/or significant professional experience in Musical Theatre; and demonstrated experience in various Musical Theatre dance and choreography styles.

Desired Qualifications:

· MFA in Choreography, coupled with significant experience in professional musical theatre
· Five years professional Musical Theatre performance experience
· Proven history of access to a network of professional mentors within the Musical Theatre discipline

Theatre NTT, 2017-18 Theatre Literature, Performance, and Dramaturgy

Central Washington University seeks a non-tenure track Theatre Generalist in the areas of Theatre Literature, Performance, and Dramaturg with assignments in undergraduate and graduate course work based on skillset. We seek a broadly trained theatre generalist with a serious commitment to student success as well as a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Appointment begins 16 September 2017.

Minimum Qualifications:

• MFA or PhD in theatre
• Scholarship and teaching interests in Theatre Literature, Performance Studies, and Dramaturgy

Preferred Qualifications:

• Three or more years of collegiate level teaching experience
• Demonstrated teaching and scholarship in areas of diversity and multiculturalism such as Latinx, Asian, Native American, and/or gender studies
• Documented experience as a director, musical theatre director, or new works deviser 
• Documented experience working with students from diverse communities
• Documented experience teaching in multi-modal and/or distance learning

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach 2-4 courses per quarter in undergraduate and graduate curriculum
• Assist in the advising, and mentoring students in the BA and MA programs

Light Shop Manager– Non-Tenure Track 2017-18
The light shop manager oversees the execution and implementation of lighting elements of Central Theatre Ensemble productions and manages the light shop. Responsible for supervising the daily operations of the lighting department and managing the lighting student staff and lab students; responsible for  ensuring all safety policies are followed; collaborate with designers to bring their vision to fruition; facilitate space rental and class lighting needs as required.

Duties to include:

• Direct and oversee the installation and maintenance of lighting for all Theatre Arts department productions, theatre rentals, and Theatre Arts department spaces.
• Supervise student employees, student crews in light labs (TH 393/493).
• Manage lighting equipment allocation and synchrony throughout the production season.
• Maintain all lighting inventory in good working order.
• Design lighting for department and rental clients as needed

Required Qualifications:

• BA in technical theatre with an emphasis in theatrical lighting. 
• Familiarity with ETC lighting consoles (ION, Expression), Vectorworks, Lightwright, LED technology and troubleshooting practices. 
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds, work at heights and use department personnel lift and fall arrest systems rated at 250 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications: 

• MFA in Theatrical Lighting
• Experience as a Lighting Designer
• Experience as a Master Electrician
• Self-starter
• Good knowledge of theatrical workflow
• Good communication skills
• Experience with moving lights
• Experience maintaining moving lights
• Sense of humor
