In a migrant farm family, making friends as a child can be awkward and difficult. Playwright Ramon Esquivel’s family-friendly comedy, Luna, takes a young girl, Soledad, on an enchanting journey through friendship and courage.
While not at school, Soledad is content with her books and the moonlit sky. As she travels from place to place, the moon faithfully follows, providing not only companionship, but also wisdom. Soledad’s life is not without hard choices, as she must balance the needs of her family, friends, and newfound friendship with Luna, the moon.
“The original idea of the play was to pay homage to the migrant farm workers,” said Esquivel. “I believe the play resonates with anyone else who faces similar challenges, such as a military family.”
