CWU’s ProTeach Portfolio Development Support Program

Provides the Teacher ProCert candidate with maximum options regarding the degree of support desired, from learning the standards, to guidance in evidence gathering and evaluation, to preparation of the portfolio for submission for external assessment (hyperlink to PDF brochure)

Credits & Program Length: 2, 4, 6, or 8 (May be used as elective credits in the Master Teacher Program); 3-4 quarters

ECTL 602: Teacher Professional Certificate Portfolio Seminar I – 2 credits

  • Preparation of Entry I: Professional Growth and Contributions
  • Offered quarterly, including summer session

ECTL 603: Gathering and Evaluating Quality Evidence – 2 credits

  • Gathering and evaluating evidence: principles & practices
  • Descriptive, analytic, and reflective writing: principles and practices
  • Preparation of Entry II: Building a Learning Community
  • Begin draft of Entry III: Curriculum, Assessment and Instruction
  • Prerequisite: ECTL 602
  • Not offered in the summer

ECTL 604: Teacher Professional Certificate Field Work – 2 credits

  • Gathering and evaluating evidence: Field work
  • Descriptive, analytic, and reflective writing: Field work
  • Continued development of Entries II & III
  • Prerequisites: ECTL 602 and 603
  • Not offered in the summer

ECTL 608: Teacher Professional Certificate Portfolio Seminar II – 2 credits

  • Completion of Entries
  • Preparation of the ProTeach portfolio
  • Review of the ProTeach portfolio in light of the rubrics
  • Prerequisites: ECTL 602 and 603
  • Offered quarterly, including summer session, beginning Winter 2011
