Jordan Head’s Artwork to be Displayed in the SURC

(Ellensburg, Wash. – May 3, 2016) Jordan Head was a big winner at the 2016 Annual Juried Undergraduate Awards Ceremony in the Sarah Spurgeon Gallery on April 28. He was given the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) Student Art Purchase Award for his calligraphy and graphic design piece, called “National Parks.” The award purchase, for $500, was the largest award of the evening. Head’s artwork will become part of the permanent collection displayed throughout the SURC.

“Jordan is just one of many incredibly talented students at Central Washington University,” said Justin Beckman, SURC Art Student Committee Advisor. “We are proud to display such a quality piece by a designer. It is just a sample of the great work we saw at the Student Juried Art Show.”

The recipient of the SURC Student Art Purchase Award is selected by the SURC Art Committee. This student committee has committed to purchasing a piece of art, created by a Central student, to be showcased in the SURC. The award money is from a fund created when the SURC was constructed. The artwork will be viewed by the 12,000-15,000 people that walk through the SURC daily, during the school year.
