Duties & Responsibilities:
This position is the first contact for the staff, faculty, and a diverse population of students using the Academic Computer labs. Lab Assistants provide technical support for hardware/software, network connectivity, login/passwords and all other computer related problems in several computer labs across campus. Lab Assistants provide open lab support for students in a networked environment of approximately 1000 computers.
Minimum Qualifications / Skills Needed:
Documented knowledge of MS Windows/Office, and basic programming, i.e. (CIS100, BSTEC130, CMPSC115)
Strong computer troubleshooting skills
Ability to prioritize multiple problems
Excellent communication skills friendly and service oriented
Work as part of a team or independently with groups or individual users
Work calmly in a stressful environment
Follow procedures and policies and be able to adapt to quick changes in situation
Be responsible, reliable, and punctual
Must be eligible to work in the United States
Ability to lift and move computer equipment, boxes of paper, etc. up to 30 lbs
Ability to move around under tables in tight quarters checking cables and wiring
