Duties & Responsibilities: 
-Work with truant and at-risk youth referred to Youth R.E.A.C.H. (Re-Engaging in Education through Action and Coordinated Help). -Provide prompt and direct contact to youth and families referred for case management. -Work with truant youth/families, school district personnel, and multi-disciplinary team members to direct youth and families to appropriate services. -Refer clients to appropriate social service agencies where necessary. -Provide follow-up services to clients as necessary. -Maintain sensitive client files. -Meet with Truancy Project Coordinator and staff. -Provide administrative support, including filing and data entry.
Minimum Qualifications / Skills Needed: 
-Coursework in social work, counseling, or a related area or an equivalent combination of education and at least 3 years experience performing the essential duties in relevant fields such as those listed above. -Experience with the juvenile justice system, at-risk youth, and knowledge of local and community-based resources strongly desired. -Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills. -Proficiency in Microsoft Office and some database experience a plus.
Why do you need this position?: 
The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office (KCPAO) in collaboration with the King County Juvenile Court seeks two (2) part-time term-limited "Community Advocates" to provide case management services and referrals to truant and at-risk youth referred to Youth R.E.A.C.H. (Re-Engaging in Education through Action and Coordinated Help), a truancy diversion pilot program in King County, for school years 2009-2010 and 2011-2012. Community Advocates will be housed in Bellevue or Highline School Districts, but will be employees of the Juvenile Court and report to the KCPAO Youth R.E.A.C.H. Program Coordinator (RPC) and Models for Change (MFC) Truancy Project Coordinator.
