Nature/Ecology/Conservation Director SUMMER JOB #31
General Requirements: The successful candidates will teach and supervise the teaching of Astronomy, Energy, Environmental Science, Geology, Insect Study, Mammal Study, Nature, Soil & Water Conservation and Weather merit badges. You are responsible for reporting class results and working with the individual instructors to improve their presentations. There will be other responsibilities assigned related to the operation of the camp. Both male and female applicants will be considered.
Specific Position Requirements: The Nature/Ecology/Conservation director is 18 years of age or older with a valid certificate of training from the Ecology/Conservation section of National Camp School OR has equivalent training in conducting an outdoor education program.
Nature/Ecology/Conservation Director-College students or teachers trained in such fields as forestry, soil & water conservation, fish & wildlife, earth science, ecology, environmental specialties, etc., are considered to have equivalent training. Students who have completed their sophomore year in college with a major in one of the above fields and have worked actively for one or more summers in a nature center or conservation-oriented staff position in a summer camp may be considered to have equivalent training.
We start our training at Camp Fife on June 26. We will work for three days with 11 year old scouts July 1-3. Camp will start in earnest on July 7. Scout Camp will conclude August 3. We also hold a special, reduced staff camp, for the "American Heritage Girls" August 4-10.
We have fun, work long hours, eat well and walk away at the end of the season grateful for the experience of working at camp.
