Duties & Responsibilities:
Tasks may include, but are not limited to:
-Assisting staff with economics research
-Workshop and meeting planning and coordination
-Data entry, bookkeeping
-Assisting with grant seeking, fund-raising, grant writing
-Support in the areas of communication and publicity (media, Internet, phone, website, campus, etc.)
-General business administration
Minimum Qualifications / Skills Needed:
Must have a financial aid work-study award or be willing to volunteer
Must have: basic economics literacy; strong proficiency with MS Office Suite including Excel and PowerPoint; self-motivation and ability to work independently; interest in learning how a non-governmental organization works; excellent communication skills, strong research ability, and an interest in the intersection between economy and environment.
What educational benefits will the student gain from this position?:
Students will learn about the field of ecological economics -- the intersection between environmental health, societal health, and economic health. They will gain understanding of the functions, goals, and workings of the non-profit sector, including hands-on experience in ecological economics, environmental advocacy, coalition building, non-profit fundraising accounting and small business management.
