Setting up food station with raw and cooked foods. Collecting serving utensils, bar towels & sanitizer buckets. Stocking paper goods & prepackaged cold food items. Preparing cooked & uncooked food items for retail food kiosks (sandwiches/wraps, sushi, Mexican, burgers & fried foods,Asian,pasta,salads,pizza). Breaking down food station at end of shift. Cleaning food station at end of shift. Assisting Civil Service food workers as needed in hot/cold food preparation. Any other duties assigned.
Ability to take direction. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds. Basic math skills. Ability to stand on feet and work for an extended period of time (shifts run from 2 - 8 hrs). Ability to read. Ability to change from one task to another in a short amount of notice. Ability to use knives, ovens, grills, fryers, gas stoves, slicers, steam kettles and other commercial food service equipment. Ability to work face to face with the public. Ability to handle a high volume of business in a short period of time. Ability to represent Dining Services in a professional manner.
Purpose of Position:
To assist Dining Services in serving quality food and service to students, staff and University guests.
Employees will obtain varied kitchen skills working with a variety of kitchen machinery in an institutional kitchen. Employees will learn to work in a professional environment, obtaining interpersonal skills. A basic foundation will be gained for those interested in pursuing a career in the hospitality industry.
