Student Transitions and Academic Resources

Student Transitions and Academic Resources (STAR) is an intensive academic support program that assists qualifying students in completing transitions into and through the university, developing academic study skills, choosing their major, and achieving their educational goals. To promote the academic success, retention, and graduation of its students, STAR provides intensive, individualized academic advising, personal, career, and financial aid counseling, tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, mentoring, social, cultural, and leadership engagement activities, advocacy, and appropriate referrals for students needing further assistance in resolving concerns and achieving their academic goals.

STAR offers an array of services that foster
academic success, including:

• Early Warning Progress Reports

• Tutoring and study skills assistance

• Career counseling and exploration

• Leadership and engagement activities

• Assistance applying for financial aid, internships, and graduate school
