CWU Golf Club

The CWU Golf Club is a student ran program, and is open to all students. The club does have tryouts for the traveling team, but there are opportunities for golfers of all skill ranges. CWU belongs to the Northwest Region of the NCCGA along with Eastern Washington University, University of Oregon, Portland State University, and Boise State University. The club travels and competes against regional colleges and also competes in regional invitational tournaments. By participating in the club, members will have the opportunity to compete in matches against other colleges from around the region, as well as have the opportunity to get discounted rates at a variety of different golf courses.

Nationals 2018:

Nationals was a great time! We arrived in St. Louis on Thursday and got settled in and familiar with the area. On Friday we played a practice round at Bogey Hills Golf Course, which is where the tournament was being held. We had a great time during the practice round playing music, having friendly wagers, and playing some good golf in the warm St. Louis sun. After the practice round we headed over to Norwood Hills Country Club for a banquet with all the teams that were competing in both national tournaments. When we got there we got a bunch of free stuff that had the national’s logo on it. The first round started on Saturday and our team got paired up with University of Miami (Ohio). The round did not go as well as our practice round. At the end of the round we were in 10th place out of 14. That night we stayed in the hotel and went to the pool and relaxed in there before getting to bed early because we had to be up around 5 the next morning. On the second day of the tournament, we got paired up with Iowa State University. Some of our players played better the second day but it still wasn't enough to keep us in 10th place. We ended up in last place which is not where we wanted to be, but we enjoyed our time there and playing on a beautiful, and difficult course. With this trip to nationals we hope to build the team up and get more people to tryout and compete for us so we can get back to nationals in the upcoming seasons.
