The community. I enjoy meeting new people and being part of something more than just my department. I also enjoy the extra help SOLVER provides in major and career planning, as well as the fun activities.

What drew you to majoring in "STEM" (the sciences, technology, engineering, or mathematics)?

I have always had an interest in science, so I knew early that it is what I wanted to do. I chose physics because of my love for astronomy, as well as the friendliness of the physics department.

What advice would you give to high school or college students who think they might be interested in STEM subjects?

Just give it a go. Research the STEM subjects ahead of time. If it sounds interesting, then it likely is. Also, definitely study up on mathematics, since math is integral to all STEM majors. It is also a good idea to seek out current STEM majors and ask them about their experiences.
