Minutes October 15, 2008

Meeting called to order:

Julia Cain called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. and attendance was taken.

Attendance:

Jack Baker, Julia Cain, Ed Day, Megan Hammond, Kay Kenison, Kevin Kimball, Riley LaMie, Caitlin Morrison, Stephanie Oberlander, Scott Robinson, Brook Rutledge, and Brent Weisel.

Approval of the minutes from October 8, 2008:

Caitlin Morrison moved to approve the minutes as amended. Brook Rutledge seconded. Motion carried. (9 in favor.)

Public Comment:

None

Supplemental Requests to be voted on:

Parade of Nations – Domonique Meeks: The question on payment to the musical group Yerba Buana before funding approved by the Board of Trustees was asked and Marian Lien will cover this payment by rearranging her spring budget. There was also concern about the committed funds; The Diversity Center commitment of $5,000 is firm as well as $500 from the Latino and Latin American Studies Program.

MOTION: Stephanie Oberlander made a motion to approve $18,100 for the Third Annual Parade of Nations fashion show and live performance of the group Yerba Buana. Caitlin Morrison seconded. Motion carried. (7 approved, 1 opposed, 1 abstention)

Selection of a Vice Chair – Julia Cain:

Riley LaMie volunteered to be Vice Chair for the S&A Committee and hearing no other nominations or volunteers. All approved Riley LaMie as Vice Chair.
