Meeting called to order 5:10 PM

Supplemental Request to be heard

  1. Theatre Arts- Trip to Chicago-Sarah Peterson
    • Requesting $1,600 for a conference in Chicago for Theatre Arts Majors
    • Students learns still they need to attend graduate school
    • For students that want to attend graduate schools, gives them the ability to apply and be interviewed by graduate schools
    • Getting a small grant for $200 from United States Institute for Theatre Technology
    • Students might pay for their own food and museums
    • Committee agrees to table the request till January

  2. Diversity Education Center- Leslie Webb
    • Requesting for $16,667
    • Last year the committee funded the Diversity Center only through Fall quarter to allow the S&A committee time to make decisions on funding for the rest of the academic year 2006-2007
    • Back to request the remainder of the money not allocated last year which is for the rest of the money for Winter and Spring quarters
    • Money used for programming and retain current staff
    • Programs in the Fall included things such as: Film festivals, speakers, debates, and conferences
    • Programs for Winter and Spring: lecturers, performance pieces, activist week planned, and other cultural events

  3. First Amendment Festival Finale- Paul Balcerak
    • Requesting for $23,000
    • Informs and evelops students appreciation for the 1st Amendment
    • A spin off of the Senior celebration last year and will not replace the Senior celebration
    • Will cover musical performance, food, advertising, prizes given out
    • Performer they want is Reverend Billy, preaches gospel on 1st Amendment rights, needs to be flown out here from New York
    • Do not qualify to receive money from club senate, but are endorsed by them
    • Plan to do fundraising and plan to raise $3,000
    • Willing to give back the money that is left over from the event

  • Jack Baker asked committee if they liked the set up for today's meeting
  • Set up is great for presentations, not for discussions
  • Committee will discuss if we want the presentations to be taped
