Based on Goethe's iconic novel The Sorrows of Young Werther, the brooding romantic tragedy, Werther, is the story a sensitive young poet in love with the beautiful, but unobtainable, Charlotte. The opera showcases memorable characters enveloped in the lush beauty and romance of Jules Massenet's music. Werther is performed in French with English subtitles.
