Long-time, internationally known human rights activist Enrique Morones founded the non-profit Border Angels in 1986 to help individuals survive the harrowing experience of crossing the desert into the United States.
Border Angels puts food, water, and other provisions in the desert for individuals in an effort to keep them alive. Morones also founded Gente Unida, a human rights border coalition made up of 65 groups that went head-to-head with the citizen border-watching group, the Minutemen. Recently, he completed a 75-mile trek through Mexico and US deserts in solidarity with migrants.
