Running Start

Running Start Available at CWU Sammamish in Fall 2017

Starting in fall 2017, Central Washington University will invite Running Start students to enroll in college courses at the new CWU Sammamish Teaching Center (120 228th Avenue NE, Sammamish, WA 98074). Located within a few miles of four local high schools, the center allows eligible high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to take college courses tuition-free.

The credits from these courses are generally transferable to other colleges and universities while also satisfying high school requirements. Students may enroll simultaneously in high school and college courses, or exclusively in college courses.

In the coming weeks, Running Start staff will be meeting with high schools and providing information sessions in the Sammamish area to students and parents to discuss this exciting opportunity.

Why Do Running Start?

• Students can earn up to two years of tuition-free college credit
• Students have the opportunity to take a wide range of courses
• Students can complete general education requirements and pre-requisites to a college major
• First time freshmen with CWU enrollment in Running Start will be given a $500 tuition award provided they have earned a 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher in their CWU courses

What Does It Cost?

Running Start students are able to take college courses tuition-free. Students are required to purchase textbooks and pay some fees.
