Research Experiences for Undergraduates

Who should apply

We are looking for students from across the Pacific Northwest who are curious and motivated to learn more about the hazards and risks of climate change in the region.

The application is open and the deadline to apply is January 28.

2018 cohort of students

We encourage you to apply to our program if you are:

  • Currently enrolled as an undergraduate at a two-year or four-year college, especially one in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, or Montana;
  • In your first or second year of college (you may also eligible if you are in your third year, but you are not eligible if you will be graduating in the spring of 2019);
  • Interested in learning more about climate change from a geological, biological, ecological, historical, cultural, or sociological perspective;
  • Motivated to help your own community understand more about the hazards and risks of climate change.

The National Science Foundation, which supports the program, requires students to be US citizens, US nationals, or permanent residents of the US. CWU requires that students be at least 18 years of age when they begin residence on campus.
