  1. Presentations
    1. Affirmative Action/HR Reports - Staci Sleigh-Layman & Kirk Eslinger
      Staci gave a summary of the Affirmative Action Plan.
      Kirk Eslinger then gave some background on the strategies that HR has developed to assist in the Affirmative Action Plan process.
    • Analysis:
      Quarterly analyze Affirmative Action goals compared with actual performance and discuss this analysis with Cabinet members and Appointing Authorities.
    • Increased HR Participation:
      Increase HR participation in the recruiting process and increase staff labor hours assigned to recruitment.
    • Key Points in Recruitment Selection:
      HR to review and lead discussion of Affirmative Action data at key points in the recruitment and selection process:
      • Prior to starting screening
      • Prior to finalizing candidates for interview
      • Prior to determining final selection
    • Consultation:
      HR will provide more assertive consultation regarding recruitment resources, recruitment processes, and search timeframes to support Affirmative Action goals.

    1. CWU Event Summary - Sandy Colson
      Sandy Colson explained that Jody Baxter will submit an event calendar that will be shared with PAC on a monthly basis. If you have an event that you would like to add to this monthly summary, please contact Jody Baxter.

    1. Approval of PAC Minutes from October 6, 2010
      Motion to approve the PAC Minutes from October 6, 2010 as presented by Sherer Holter. Seconded by Wayne Quirk. No further discussion. Motion carried.
  4. University Policies to Recommend for Approval
    1. Naming of rooms in Hogue Hall - Wayne Quirk
      Wayne explained that the Development Priorities Committee met and approved the revised room naming opportunities for the new Hogue Technology Building addition. With active cultivation and solicitation, there are four proposals to present. Jen Gray commended Bill Bender, Dave Carns, and Michoan Spoelstra on a great process of staying connected with alumni and their companies to develop a model process for naming the rooms in Hogue Hall. These naming opportunities are being forwarded today for recommendation by PAC. Wayne Quirk made a motion that all four proposals be forwarded to the Board of Trustees for final approval. Seconded by Kirk Johnson. No further discussion. Motion carried.

For the Good of the Order:

Sherer Holter reported that the Strategic Planning Task Force met yesterday and were given their charge by Dr. Gaudino. Tracy Pellett and Amy Hoover are co-chairing the task force. President Gaudino reported that he participated in a conference call this morning with Rob McKenna, the Washington State Attorney General, regarding alcohol energy drinks. He added that there may be new legislation introduced regarding this issue so CWU may be asked to help support the issue. The state's next revenue forecast will be out on November 18. We have a new board of trustee member, Ron Erickson. Mr. Erickson graduated from CWU in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts in History. He is currently CEO of Visualant, Inc. George Clark has accepted the position of VPO/CFO and will be on campus January 10. Bill Vertrees is in Olympia today with Ed Day working on the bond sale for the new Barto Hall. The Board of Trustees will have a telephonic meeting tomorrow to approve the sale of the bonds. The CWU Foundation has hired an executive director, Forrest Rodgers. He will begin November 7.

Patricia Cutright reported that today is the last day of the Library book sale. She added that November is National Native American Month.

Tracy Terrell reported that November is also National Veteran's Awareness month. Registration for winter quarter has started and they anticipate about 550 new students for winter quarter.

Carmen Rahm thanked everyone involved in the very successful test of our CWU Alert System. It went very smoothly and was a great team effort.

Jen Gray stated that October was a phenomenal month with all of the wonderful activities that were held. She added that University Advancement is in the process of developing ways to highlight our alumni. This year's distinguished alumni awards were excellent and we need to have a better way of distributing this information.
