1. Presentations

   1. Strategic Planning Update - Amy Hoover and Tracy Pellett.

      Amy explained that the strategic planning process has been going on for several months. The campus and community forums are almost complete. The last forum for the community is this week. The feedback received to date has been very thoughtful. The task force will meet again April 18 to review feedback and prepare the final report to submit to Cabinet. Folks will be able to review the document one more time before it goes to the Board of Trustees in June. Jim thanked Amy and Tracy and the entire task force for their efforts on this process. He added that the next step in the process will be the operational plans. Those will be developed next academic year.

   2. Online Strategic Plan Draft - Tracy Pellett
      Tracy explained that the purpose of the Online Learning Strategic Plan is to provide a vision and roadmap to university personnel and partners for the development, support, and delivery of online learning at CWU. He added that online offerings at CWU are meant to: provide more flexible access to content and instruction for learners who cannot or choose not to attend traditional face-to-face offerings; disseminate instructional content more cost effectively; provide greater educational course and program selection for students; and improve time-to-degree completion by offering students greater course scheduling. Bob Hickey asked if the plan had been vetted by Faculty Senate since it deals with curriculum? Rodney Bransdorfer explained that Faculty Senate will not approve the document, but they have provided feedback. Roy Savoian added that we need to decide as a university what percent of our courses we want to do face-to-face as opposed to on line. 2. Information Items

   1. CWU Event Summary - April 2011
      Sherer reminded folks of the PASS event - Mark Bittman on April 7 at 8:00 PM. She added that a Welcome Reception for Marilyn Levine and George Clark will be April 13 at 4:00 PM at the CWU Welcome Center. Jim encouraged folks to check out the event list and try to attend some of our events. Katrina Whitney announced that the 2nd annual Pat Haley Fundraiser is May 6 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Holmes Dining Hall. The cost is $20/person. There will be a raffle and silent auction as well. Funds raised at this event go to a CWU Foundation account that will be used to address emergency situations for CWU students. John Swiney reported that Wildcat Welcome Weekend is April 16. Afghan author, Malalai Joya, speaks about the current situation in Afghanistan at noon today in the SURC Pit.    1. Approval of PAC Minutes from March 2, 2011
      The minutes from March 2 reference that the GROWE Conference is scheduled for May 18, 2011. Sherer asked to make a note that this conference has been postponed. Motion to approve the PAC Minutes from March 2, 2011 as presented by Sherer Holter. Seconded by Matt Cziske. No further discussion. Motion carried.

4. University Policies to Recommend for Approval

   1. CWUP 2-60 University Committees, Councils & Task Forces - Sherer Holter
      Sherer reported that all suggestions she received to date have been incorporated into this policy. The basic changes to the policy since it was reviewed last time include: changing the Native American Indian Committee to a council, adding the Site and Development Committee back in as a standing committee, and listing all of the other councils and task forces in the policy just as a reference. Due to the fact that folks still have several issues with this policy, it will come back to PAC again in May. Please send any comments and/or feedback to Sherer in the next two weeks. Cabinet will review the policy again as well.

5. University Procedures Reviewed

      The procedure that accompanies CWUP 2-60 University Committees, Council and Task Forces will be reviewed again in May as well. Please send any comments and/or feedback to Sherer in the next two weeks.

​Other Announcements:

Jim reported that Jen Gray has announced her plan to retire. Congratulations Jen! The Seattle PI ran a story this morning on PANGA and Tim Melbourne. The House budget came out earlier this week and the Senate budget is due out soon, so we don't really have any additional budget news yet. The capital budget in the House looks pretty good for us. Jim thanked to Bill Vertrees, Ann Anderson, & Linda Schactler for their efforts in this process.

John Swiney reported that we have a few more days until the 10th day freeze, but things look good. Currently we are at 10,298 enrolled, 9500 FTE for spring, and 9985 annual FTE average.
