Youth Sports
The Santa Hoops tournament first began around 2008-2009 as a partnership with the new Student Union and Recreation Center and the City of Ellensburg. Through the years, it transitioned to being a University Recreation event, welcoming approximately 50 youth teams to play on campus each year.
The Santa Hoop Classic continues as an AAU Boys and Girls basketball tournament hosted annually at Central Washington University. Registration is typically available to registered boys and girls AAU clubs for 10U, 11U, 12U, 13U, 14U. Grade and gender divisions are offered based on team interest and capacity, as the tournament is provided on a first-come, first-serve basis for registration. Teams travel from all over Washington for a chance to compete. Those who win at this tournament will qualify for State.
Keep an eye on this page as we explore expanding our AAU offerings with the addition of a spring volleyball tournament and a summer track & field event at the premiere Recreation Sports Complex.
