Tiffany Twiddy

Tiffany TwiddyMajor (if applicable): Physical Education
Year in School (if applicable): Junior
Why did you choose the fitness/health field for your study/career?
I have always enjoyed sports and competition. I grew up in athletics and have always enjoyed working out. I love teaching others to enjoy being active as well. I think it’s a great way to help others get the most out of life.
What are your plans after graduation?
I plan to hopefully teach and coach children and teens to become more active. I hope to eventually start a fitness program for overweight children and teens.
What certifications are you seeking and why?
I am ACSM (American College of Sports Medicine) certified already. I hope to continue to gain more certifications as I continue training.
What aspect of our personal training program do you identify with the most?
I personally identify most with the work ethic of our training program. I want to push people to get the most out of their workouts and get results.
How do you personally “walk the walk” of a healthy and fit lifestyle?
I personally enjoy marathon running. I enjoy running because it makes me feel great and is relaxing to me. I also think keeping a balanced life is important to maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Jamie O’Neil

Jamie O’NeilMajor (if applicable): Exercise Science with a Coaching minor
Year in School (if applicable): JR
Why did you choose the fitness/health field for your study/career?
To start, I have had a lifelong passion for sports and the benefits it provides youth, both physically and socially. Beyond that, I have struggled with weight and health issues my entire life, and have seen the first-hand benefits of an exercise regimen.
What are your plans after graduation?
Ideally, I would like to coach baseball at a competitive level. While I’ve never been the most gifted athlete, I do have a head for the game and understand the mechanics of the sport. I would like nothing more than to impart this knowledge onto future generations of athletes.
What certifications are you seeking and why?
I am a current Certified Personal Trainer through NASM. I am also studying for both Personal Trainer and Strength and Conditioning certifications through NSCA.
What aspect of our personal training program do you identify with the most?
I entered the industry after hiring my own personal trainer. I feel that I get the most out of workouts where others are challenging me, whether it be a timed circuit or a session of mixed martial arts training.
How do you personally “walk the walk” of a healthy and fit lifestyle?
Personally, I have put myself through a myriad of types of training. There have been times in my life where I’ve needed to put on muscle, lose fat, and rehab injuries. Beyond that, virtually the entirety of my family is afflicted with Type 2 diabetes, so I am doing everything I can to prevent my own contraction of the disease.

Ryan Galindo

Ryan GalindoMajor: Exercise Science
Year in School: Sophomore
Why did you choose the fitness/health field for your study/career?
I was shown the benefits of a life of fitness at an early age, and it changed my life forever. Since then I’ve wanted to help people improve the quality of their lives through fitness.
What are your plans after graduation?
My goal is to continue training and someday own a gym of my own.
What certifications are you seeking and why?
I’m currently studying for my ACE certification, and plan on pursuing a CSCS certification after I graduate, as these two are the most important for my training career.
What aspect of our personal training program do you identify with the most?
Being able to work closely with other people and show them how to get the most out of their workouts is the best part for me. There is no greater high for me than seeing the excitement in someone’s face who has just surpassed another one of their fitness goals!
How do you personally “walk the walk” of a healthy and fit lifestyle?
I live for my workouts. I plan my entire life around my time in the gym, but I also look for exercise opportunities in everyday situations. Little things like walking instead of driving can really add up when trying to maintain a healthy lifestyle!
