Recreation Facility Hours
The CWU Recreation Center, Climbing Wall, and OPR Shop are all operating under reduced Winter Break hours and closures.
We do not require facial coverings, but welcome those who may find more comfort in wearing one. Use of facial coverings is currently strongly encouraged by the Public Health Department to reduce the spread of the RSV and seasonal influenza viruses. The RSC is only available for scheduled programs and events. Outdoor fields are available at the Alder Field Complex located at the corner of Alder St. and 18th Ave.
To see current reservation schedules at the RSC, please visit your Membership Portal, recreation.cwu.edu.
The Recreation Sports Complex opened in November 2018 and includes a fully lit turf infield and NCAA competition track. Other highlights include: grandstands with 600 spectator seats, throws venue (hammer, shot put, javelin, and discus), stadium style scoreboard, restrooms, food truck capabilities and perimeter fencing.
- Recreation Member Swim Sessions
We are not currently offering swim sessions due to the impact on that facility from renovations on Nicholson Pavillion.
Must present CWU Connection Card, and have valid membership with CWU Recreation, or have a valid swim pass. Please purchase swim pass at the CWU Recreation Center prior to use of the pool. A waiver must be completed prior to use of the pool. Ellensburg public may purchase a pool pass to use the pool during Rec Swim sessions, but are not membership eligible.
Children ages 6months - 13 years are allowed to join their parent, who is a current Recreation Center member for aquatic activities in the CWU Pool during designated Open Recreation swim sessions.
The parent must be present and actively involved with the child in the Pool at all times.
Each child must purchase a daily guest pass ($3) for each swim session.
If the Pool occupancy reaches 20, parents and children may be asked to refrain from entering until occupancy decreases, so that adequate lifeguard supervision is maintained.
Children age 14-17 may participate in Aquatic activities at the CWU Pool, with a parent on site and the purchase of a daily guest pass or current Recreation Center membership.
Dependents age 18 years and older may participate in designated Open Recreation and Lap Swim sessions by purchasing a daily guest pass or Recreation Center membership.
