I owe my love of the outdoors to my grandpa, who would take me on hikes in the wilderness near his home in Northern Arizona. I’ve always been drawn to the ability to live life out of a 70 litre backpack. I began working with challenge courses in high school, and when I started working at OPR I was given the unique opportunity to work with groups from all over the Northwest. Seeing people expand their comfort zones and strengthen their relationships on the challenge course is a feeling that’s hard to replicate anywhere else. I would one day like to travel-write for outdoor magazines.

I grew up in the wonderful town of Snohomish, Washington, playing
basketball and tennis. I moved to Ellensburg when I started going to
school at central. Once at central I got into rock climbing, as well as working at
the challenge course. All my friends say I will someday own a KOA
campground since I have spent the last 8 summers working at one. While
this is not far from the probable truth, after college my plan is to work
for the park service as a ranger.

I have always loved being outside; hiking, climbing and backpacking have always been some of my favorite things to do outside of my music career. Working on CWU’s challenge course has provided me with the perfect opportunity to combine my passions of leadership, outdoor education and love for the outdoors. My experience started in summer camps, leadership opportunities throughout high school and climbing experience with the Ptarmigans in the Portland, OR area. After I graduate I plan to travel and teach music overseas.

I’ve been working for University Rec. since the fall of my freshman year, for intramurals, and as a raft guide for OPR since the spring of 2009. I had my first experience with challenge courses as a freshman at Experience Leadership Project (ELP). I enjoy fishing and reading and hope to one day climb Mt. Midoriyama.

I am from Vancouver Washington, where I discovered a love for camping, hiking, and rock climbing. I’ve been involved in leadership and teambuilding throughout the past several years, including working as a camp counselor for the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry; working with middle school, high school, and college students in different music programs; working as a Resident Assistant in first-year residence halls at CWU; and participating in officer roles in several clubs on campus. I love working on the challenge course because I love to help people overcome boundaries and work together in the remarkable outdoor facility that we have here at CWU.

My favorite activity is mountain biking aka shreddin mad burms and trying to fly with the fewest number of crashes as possible. Also, I love to climb just about anything, hike, backpack, and am down to do just about anything that has to do with the outdoors. I hope to one day be a mountain bike instructor and take people on mountain bike tours. I want to travel the world and see as much as I can and try all the delicious cuisine of every country! I am an avid parkour champion T.V. watcher, a nationally ranked double dutch champ, and almost got the final rose on the bachelor in 1997.
